About ICE Arts and Crafts
Our Background
Rusiru Nandasiri Polwatta Gedarage, originally from Sri Lanka, has always been a creative individual. Since he was young, he enjoyed tackling new challenges such as designing beautiful traditional Sri Lankan wedding alters and creating movie posters. Eventually, Rusiru started his own advertising company, doing what he loved.
In 2011, Rusiru moved to Canada and fell in love with the snow for the first time. He saw it as a new experience and a challenge he wanted to take on. By 2012, Rusiru began working as an apprentice under ICE boy to learn how to carve on ice. That same year, he entered his first competition at Ice Fest Bloor - Yorkville and won 3rd place. From there, Rusiru continued to grow, making a name for himself and establishing his company, Ice Arts and Crafts, in 2014. Rusiru grew from there, placing 1st in many ice carving competitions.
